NH Home Staging - Preparing Your Home For Sale? Think Rainbow Fairy

By
Home Stager with Sharon Tara Transformations

This Halloween was the year of Elsa.  I can't imagine anyone NOT knowing who Elsa is, but just in case you have somehow remained Elsa clueless....she is the snow queen in the Disney mega hit movie Frozen. It appears every little girl wants to be Elsa.

In my grandson's nursery school class all but two of the girls were Elsa.  One girl was Elsa's sister,  Princess Anna, from the same movie.

It's the remaining girl I want to talk about. The girl who chose NOT to be Elsa. This wise- beyond-her-years little girl wanted to be a Rainbow Fairy because she didn't want

"to be like everyone else".

I am so impressed! Four years old....such wisdom! Bravo to her, and bravo to her parents.

As a professional Home Stager, I can't resist the opportunity to point out the real estate analogy here.  I stress to all my clients who are preparing their homes for sale the importance of standing out from the competition

I tell my sellers to imagine buyers touring potential homes. The first 5 homes all have signs of everyday life....over-stuffed closets and cabinets, for example.  Messy closets are not going to be a deal breaker, especially if all the homes have them.  However, if home #6 has organized closets and neat kitchen cabinets it stands out....it's made a positive, memorable impression because it is different!

Preparing your home for sale?  Think of the Rainbow Fairy...

Stand out from the competition.

Sharon - you made a really great analogy here.  Yes it is very important to stand out from the crowd in everything but especially with you home for sale.

Hi Sharon.  That is a great analogy.  Stand out in the crowd makes a lot of sense.

I totally agree with you Sharon! I work in one town where their is a lot of new construction. Buyers can choose from the same resale model on different streets. I am always telling my sellers their home has to stand out and offer something different to the buyer. Give them a reason to buy their home.

You are correct, it is the bold who don't follow the norm that are tomorrow's leaders!

Jeff:  I bet if you ask them they can tell you all about her, probably much more than you want to know, LOL.

Roger:  and I you!

Christi:  No surprise there, LOL.  I bet they were adorable.

Brian:  Now if they were actually in a closet that would be really cool!

James:  First impressions cannot be taken back....funny how many sellers don't grasp the concept.

Grant:  The problem becomes when you stand out for negative reasons.  Ouch.

Conrad:  Memorable is a good thing as long as the memory is a pleasant one.

Janice:  I'm sure your clients have no problem standing out....providing they follow your directions.

Barbara Jo & Corinna:  I'm sure this little fairy has a bright future.

Mike:  Thank you for taking the time to comment.

Hi Sharon,

I heard this on the news the other day that Disney sold millions of Elsa costumes and it was the most popular costume ever. No surprise they are making a Frozen 2 film.

Closets are so important to keep us all organized. We moved recently and put the Closet Maid racks in every closet. They are mostly double and in our master they are triple in areas. I have so much room for purses, shoes, clothes and I even gave my husband a little area too. Ha Ha.

I typically open the master closet door when I am showing property and the buyers are always impressed with closet organizers. You are so right as most are not remodeled and still  have the original wood poles with clothes crammed inside. Buyers LOVE great closets. LIKE!

Kristin:  I love the show Once Upon A Time and they have incorporated Frozen in their story line now too.  It's great!  I love the characters, and I understand all the little girls wanting to be Elsa.  I just love that this little girl wants to be different!

I had a very tiny closet in my first home and after 20 years we figured out that we could increase the space by putting double poles.  It was the best thing....I was so happy with my new closet.

Be yourself...let your home reflect....yourself....the elf you are ....and good for the individualism this little gal had the "courage" to exhibit at such a young age.

Sally & David:  My thoughts exactly!  Except of course when preparing your home for sale....no self reflecting in the home when you want to appeal to buyers!  LOL.

Sharon this is a great analogy and solid advice too! It really does help for a seller to hire a Home Stager who can see things that goes beyond the seller's vision. You are the best at what you do because you trained for it and your experiences and success stories speak for themselves.

Thanks Sharon!!!
