The Final Week for Sacramento MetroList iBox Exchange

By
Real Estate Agent with Elizabeth Anne Weintraub, Broker DRE #00697006

I don't know about you, but this Sacramento REALTOR is thrilled that her reluctant participation in the MetroList iBox exchange is over. When we were hit with the news between our eyes, it was a bit of a shock to discover that not only were we hosed by having to exchange our lockboxes, not one for one like our last lockbox exchange, but instead two for one. On top of that, we don't own the lockboxes we exchange.

Myrl Jeffcoat called earlier to say the deal at her lockbox exchange appeared to be that MetroList was charging each subscriber $15 a month per lockbox. Or, at least that's what some MetroList employee at Cal Expo told everybody when she was there.  I assured her that was not true. The $15 monthly fee is for the Activity Key.

We had a little trouble finding the right entrance to the MetroList iBox exchange. The MetroList website said we should enter at the East Gate. But there was no map. If you've ever driven around Cal Expo, then you know there is an East entrance off of Hurley and Ethan, which is where we went. Turns out they meant the eastern-most gate of all the gates on Exposition Boulevard. No wonder so many real estate agents were lost.

You can read more about my adventures in my personal blog today in the Upside and Downside to the MetroList iBox Exchange at Cal Expo.

That MetroList lockbox exchange sounds just bad.  Not the process, but the ideas behind it.  It's like they sat down and said, "How can we gouge Sacramento real estate agents?"

I'm glad that you got to keep some of your former boxes.  Some last minute reasoning from MetroList, I guess.

Chris Ann Cleland I'm not so sure it was gouging as much as how much they can line their own pockets but who knows, we weren't there at that table.

They did run a nice exchange, though. There was one woman at a table whose sole job was to show agents how to push down on the top of the lockbox to unlock it. She was very personable for having such a boring job. It was also great to learn the lockbox won't fall on the ground once the shackle is released. That was a concern of mine, but it still takes 2 hands.

That is one thing you will love is that releasing shackle.

Just another agency ran like the government.  They like telling people what they must do but don't tell how to do it or where to go to get it done.

Chris Ann Cleland Unless it doesn't work. Sometimes I have to try to open shackles a dozen times before it fully releases. I'll hear that click but nothing happens.

Conrad Allen A kiss is unnecessary and you all of people should know that. :)

James: The @ button is stuck. Sorry.
