Blogging ~ Leaving A Legacy One Post at a Time

Night Scene

Tonight I watched a movie entitled "The Book Thief".  I was not able to see this movie when it first came out but was lucky enough to watch it this evening.  If you haven't had the opportunity to see it, make it a priority.

A beautiful yet heart-wrenching story set in Germany during the 2nd World War.  Liesel, the female main character endures some very tough life lessons yet along the way finds her voice.  She discovers the treasures hidden within the written word.

The movie really impacted me as I began to think about the legacy that each of us as bloggers is leaving behind through the written words that we pen daily.  Most of us blog about topics relating to our professional life yet we get to know one another through our comments and our personal topic posts.  Our words are forever digitized for others to read.

The impact of this thought has put me into some deep thought this evening.  As we each collect our thoughts, create posts and write, we are allowing a tiny bit of ourselves to be shared with others.  What an amazing gift.

Long after I am gone, my children and my grandchildren should they choose to read through my posts may learn a lot about me that otherwise they might not have known.  The written word is powerful, personal and it is a true gift to others.  Never take your blogging efforts lightly.

Blogging is truly a way to leave a legacy one post at a time!  Happy blogging my friends!

Awwww, Paula.  I saw that movie the other night, also.  It was by total accident as I mindlessly scrolled through the TV guide, and that movie beckoned me. What a lovely, heart wrenching story.  I, too, enjoyed it and and thought much of what you posted. Thank you for saying so well what I was thinking.  May you have a very Happy Thanksgiving filled with family and friends.

Thank you so very much for your well thought out post. A life changer for sure. I have given a note to my husband and asked that he get the movie so we can watch it together. I never thought about the concept of our words being left after we are gone. That is powerful! I just hope that message gets to todays young people who mindlessly post comments today that they will be embarrassed about tomorrow (when they grow up).  The words we speak are a mirror image of our heart!

Great post Paula McDonald ... when I was younger I always wanted to commit my thoughts to paper but found it tedious and boring. Through blogging I find the whole thing refreshing and exciting.

Our words are forever digitized for others to read-That is my biggest takeaway from this blog and it is very true Paula. It's funny that you said that because I was just writing one Market Report I said that I have to do my best possible to provide information that is accurate and very useful to consumers since they highly value the content that we provide. Many home buyers and sellers uses Market Reports to decide whether they are going to buy and/or sell a house.

So I agree with you 100%. Thanks for the remainder. Great post.

Paula McDonald - wow! What we write here (or anywhere else) DOES matter a lot!

That shows who we are - leaving a legacy, one THOUGHT at a time.

Hi Paula, thanks for the recommendation of the movie.  I agree with you about what we share in our blogging.  The written word no matter what the forum can show what is in our heart.  Attitude comes through loud and clear.  I have seen this first hand!

Paula -- Absolutely right and nicely stated. The written word lives on. I found a letter to my son that I wrote as part of a room mother activity I ran years ago.  Very moving ....  and will be treasured.

I have been wondering if that movie is worth seeing.  I will suggest to my wife that we watch it.  Some of my best and most personal stuff for my family is on this blog.  Kinda weird in a way, but this is just my place.
