Ha! This is a great post and something I ardently believe in. My wife and I set

aside time between Christmas and New Years routinely to de-clutter. Not sure  if you've ever heard of Katheryn Ponder but she wrote a book called "THE VACUUM LAW OF PROSPERITY".

There was a great chapter about cleaning out your closets and drawers and what treasures you will find by doing so. Never fails every year we find things that we thought w lost and we always find MONEY hidden way in those tiny nooks and crannies.

One of the most important overlooked and difficult tasks in a typical US household is purging of household items. In my opinion, it's easier to get rid of things if you can donate them - you feel like you are giving to others rather than taking from yourself.

Get OrganizedIn many situations though, maybe we're afraid we'll lose our connection to the past if we lose the physical object that was there to share it with us.  It’s fine to be sentimental, but the real memory lies in your mind, not in the thing you don't want to throw out.

“According to the National Soap and Detergent Association, getting rid of clutter would eliminate 40 percent of housework in the average home.”

Although I cannot find the link, I seem to recall an amazing statistic that in the United States, we spend more money on storage facilities than we do for entertainment.

Get rid of stuff you no longer have use for and put more money back in your pocket by not having to rent a storage facility.  Additionally, you will have more time on your side by spending less time cleaning.  It's a win-win situation, and you will be helping someone in need.

Have you decided on a resolution for 2015?
