Random Thoughts on Super Bowl Sunday

I haven't done this in a while, putting all those random thoughts and  things that happened over the last week or so into one post.

Let me just start to say that in our house, Super Bowl is a non-issue.  Hubby is a rare breed as he is not a big sports fan unless it's Nascar and even then, it has limits.  So, I can  watch Downton Abbey tonight and there won't be any complaints.

Last week ended with three accepted  contracts, none of which I saw coming just a week or so ago.  January seemed to start out a little slow for me but it definitely has caught up at the end.

Boston Butt Photo by Silvia DukesLast year, we bought a pig at the 4H auction during the annual County fair.  I've been cooking myself through a freezer full of pork since then.

Today we had Boston Butt and it came out quite yummy.  Did you know Boston Butt isn't "butt" at all? It's actually a piece of the shoulder.

Winter is far from over for the northern states.  Some of the photos I saw on FB and in some of the blogs here, look cold and frosty with lots of snow and ice.

You wouldn't know if if you lived here.  We had a cold spell last week but it warmed up for the weekend.  The snowbirds who are renting next door are pretty happy.  We took advantage of the nice weather yesterday and today to do some yard work and only stopped because our three trash cans were filled to the rim with yard waste.

Enjoy your Sunday evening!

I love your random thoughts Silvia! They resonate with me. I'm not watching the game either and it's fine with me!

January ended up on a happy note for you and I hope things continue to go well in business!

I didn't know that a butt was a butt after all!

I share your joy in knowing that even though we may experience a few cold days, it's nothing compared to what our Northerners experience with cold, sleet and ice. I'm very content with warmer climate and would never choose that life again.

Have a great evenin!!!!

I'm with your hubby, Silvia.   Superbowl is a "non-issue" in my house, too.  Who cares?

Your dinner looks very delicious. I did watch the game. I love football. Our weather is unseasonably warm, and I wish it would stop. We need more snow so we will have plenty of irrigation water for the spring and summer. I enjoyed your random thoughts. Have a wonderful night.

I learned a long time ago that the butt steak was the best steak to buy. I tried it and have had it a number of times since.

Good morning Silvia. Fortunately for those of us in the Northeast, most of which are Patriots fans, life is good. We are paying for this victory with lots of snow.

Make it a great week!

Patricia Feager, MBA, GRI, Cert Negotiations Expert, Military Relo Prof  Thank you, hope you had a great evening as well.  I don't think I would do well with cold weather anymore.

Kathy Streib  That's true, I'm just glad our cold spells don't usually last very long.

Fred Griffin  Yes, we just let the news tell us who won.

Debbie Laity yes, you do depend on snow for water in the Spring.  I'm sure it'll snow again for you!

Larry Johnston  thanks, it used to be considered "poor man's meat" but I too, prefer it over the regular pork chop.

Joe Petrowsky  Glad to hear your team won!

I'm not a football enthusiast either.  Worked at a sports radio station and got my fill there.

I like the sounds of your hubby... No TV sports except NASCAR. I'm cooking a pork shoulder today... from one of the wild pigs our little dogs "caught" in December.

Silvia Dukes PA, REALTOR ~ this is an epic post on so many levels! We watched the Super Bowl at my house even though most watching did not care for either team "we were just hoping for good commercials and an entertaining game" I found it interesting hearing about a Nascar fan, in So Cal they don't exist... But most of all "Boston Butt" now that's one more thing I had no idea existed... THANK YOU... I don;t know about Nascar, but I am going to have to try some "Boston Butt"

Rob Thomas  it was a good day!

Hella M. Rothwell, Broker/Realtor®  Trail mix is a good food for the road!

Georgie Hunter sounds like your dogs are true to your name!  :-)

Suzanne McLaughlin thank you for the follow!  The pork was very easy.  I just seasoned it with salt, pepper, garlic, and paprika and stuck it in the oven covered with foil for several hours at low heat.  Easy!

Jon Kolsky  well, thank you! :-)  I think you should try some Boston Butt and maybe you already have because typically pulled pork is made from this cut.  Enjoy!
