The new and improved Auburn Mall will host a grand reopening celebration Friday, Feb. 6 beginning at 11 a.m.

Hull Property Group, owners of the mall, will hold a press conference and ribbon cutting ceremony to kick off the grand reopening weekend.

John Mulherin with Hull Property Group will speak at the ceremony as well as local Auburn leaders, such as Mayor Pro Tem Ron Anders and Auburn Chamber of Commerce President Lolly Steiner.

The ceremony will take place in the center court of the mall, just inside the main entrance. Those who attend the ceremony will enjoy a catered breakfast by Chick-fil-A.

Grand reopening activities continue in the mall's center court Saturday, Feb. 7 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with entertainment, family activities and prize giveaways throughout the day.

"Every half hour there will be a different activity or entertainment group performing," said Coles Doyle, marking director with Hull Property Group.

"We're calling it a City Celebration, which will just celebrate all the wonderful things the community has to offer in terms of entertainment, family activities and shopping," she added. "One of our goals is to get the community involved in supporting the mall."

Performing groups will include the Auburn University Swing Association, the Auburn Area Community Theatre, Make Your Move Dance Studio and the MelAUdic Singers, among many other local talents.

In addition to performances, there will be family activities throughout the day, from a cookie cake walk to a scavenger hunt.

Also, throughout the day, door prizes will be awarded to attendees — all from Auburn Mall tenants. Prizes range from gift cards to store merchandise, and all prizes will be announced from the stage in center court.

Hull Property Group embarked on its plan to revitalize Auburn's mall in May 2014 and completed improvements in January 2015.

Improvements include the addition of historical photos and full color murals throughout the mall's interior, changing the name of the mall from Village Mall to Auburn Mall, renovating signage and entrances, as well as adding a new, state of the art LED reader board in front of the mall to feature store promotions, community events and mall happenings.

New stores have been added, such as Justice, Francesca's, Spencer's, Sienna & Bellini, iFix and T-Mobile.

Hull Property Group said in a release that they plan to announce new retail and restaurants soon.

In the meantime, Doyle and staff hope to see community members for the grand reopening weekend.

"We really want to encourage everyone to come out and check out the improvements to the mall and celebrate the new Auburn Mall," Doyle said. "We feel like the mall has a bright future ahead."
