February is National Spay and Neuter Month and Charlotte, North Carolina is helping the the cause through the Spay Neuter Charlotte organization. Spay Neuter Charlotte's mission is to create a community where there are NO homeless animals. We all know, there are way too many unwanted (and as a result, homeless) dogs and cats out there and the primary cause stems from people's failure to spay and neuter their pets. If your dog or cat hasn't been spayed, please do your bit to keep the overpopulation of unwanted animals down and have them spayed or neutered this month.
If you can't afford to spay or neuter your dog or cat, Spay Neuter Charlotte offers a program for 70 free surgeries each month for pet owners with limited means. And if you can afford to pay something, Spay Neuter Charlotte has the following "specials" during the months of February and March:
February Spay/Neuter Specials

- Female Cats: $20 (courtesy of PetSmart Charities)
March Spay/Neuter Specials
- Female Dogs: $109
- Male Dogs: $65
- Female Cats: $50
- Male Cats: $30
Spay Neuter Charlotte also sponsors a community Pet Food Pantry, offering free pet food for owners in need.
