Martin County FL Leads in Health Rankings and Outcomes
When it comes to health on the Treasure Coast of Florida, Martin County is number 1 as reported by the sixth annual County Health Rankings & Roadmaps tool, released by the University of Wisconsin and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. This study shows Martin County as number eight in the state of Florida.
This health ranking is based on an estimate of the future health of counties as compared with other counties within a state. Four measures go into these rankings. Health behaviors, clinical care, social and economic, and physical environment factors.
For health outcomes which measure how long people live and how healthy they feel while alive, Martin County ranks number 3 for the state of Florida. According to Jim Vojcsik, president and CEO for the United Way of Martin County: 'This report shows how fortunate we are to live in a place like Martin County, where most of the population is healthy, but that isn't the case for everyone. Enhancing healthy living is a priority issue and it takes numerous community partners working together to make it happen.'
