Last evening I watched a fascinating documentary. I suspect any photography buff would enjoy it as well. The title is, “Finding Vivian Maier.”
When she died in 2009, Vivian Maier, a longtime nanny, left behind a treasure trove consisting of thousands of photo negatives she’d produced over a period of many years.
While my own digital photo archive consists of about 5,000+ images, Vivian’s collection was well over 100,000.
Vivian didn’t capitalize on her rare talent for taking pictures. She was a hoarder, and during her lifetime, kept the photographs to herself.
The documentary, chronicles the relentless adventure and investigation by amateur historian, John Maloof, to reveal intricacies and idiosyncrasies, of Vivian’s very private life.
Her inspiring photographic works have been displayed at various exhibitions around the globe.
A website devoted to Vivian Maier, provides a trailer of the documentary. It can be accessed via: http://www.findingvivianmaier.com
If you enjoy photography, and want to learn interesting perspectives about taking pictures, I recommend you watch!
