Why I Love Where I Live - a PhotoEssay in Living Color
Tranquility is key; color adds a great deal. I've always said, "flowers make my soul smile" - love planting them, nursing them, adoring them.
Manicured flower beds can be magnificent, such as one sees in large cities, for example, all along the middle island of the grand Park Avenue in New York City or at the stunning Luxemourg Gardens in Paris.
In Connecticut backyards, we often have too many predators to try to cultivate elegant planting areas. A little bit of chaos and natural splendor adds to the outdoor feel of the New England charm. The proud homeowners' randomness of selection sometimes comes through, with perhaps a touch of benign neglect... and lots of love.
