Business Card Graveyard

A couple weeks ago I wrote a blog article that received a lot of negative comments.  I think that many people read the title and maybe the first couple of paragraphs, formed an opinion, and wrote what they thought. The post was called "Business Cards Are a Waste of Money!"

Very disappointing. If you are going to comment on a post, you should make sure you read the entire post. If at that point you do not agree, say it nicely. My dad always told me to "sandwich" any pieces of constructive criticism by putting in between two compliments, just like a sandwich.... Just a tip.

In this post if you continue reading you will see that I wrote that business cards are a waste of time at networking events. I did not say to dump your cards and get rid of all of them and never use them again.

If you would like to read the post you can do so by clicking HERE.

Today, I received a very interesting email from a leader I adore in terms of his marketing mastermind. He has become an expert on Linkedin and has some amazing classes. Today in his email, his title was "The Business Card Graveyard". He is co-hosting a complimentary workshop with friend and fellow St. Louisan, Virginia Muzquiz, on how to network the right way to maximize and leverage your time spent networking.  You can read more HERE.

According to Josh Turner, Virginia has a unique system for turning networking meetings into gold, and will be dishing out some seirously valuable techniques that will finally make your networking time worth it.

Please let me know if you register. Looks like a great class!

Jennifer - I think there may still be a time and place for business cards, but they sure are not as common as they used to be. So many people now just call or text one another on their smart phone when they first meet to capture their name and number.

Very good post, I dont think I saw the original but completely agree with you on the network events. I have had people actually throw cards at me like they were on fire. lol. Save your cards for customers.

Good morning Jennifer. Love your post. I will share with you what has served me very well over the years when it comes to business cards, the real estate on the back of the card. When I had a card to someone, I asked then to read the back of the card. My cards have a very high retention rate.

Make it a great weekend!

Many of us are guilty when it comes to reading the complete text of blogs. And, it is sad to receive negative comments when they are not responsive to the blog.

Thanks for sharing the workshop link. My experience is that most readers do not click on links.

I love to read about the successful networking by Joe Petrowsky

Hello Jennifer ... I am so sorry for the children around the AR network venting on your post

There are always those who think they know something about everything and that their opinion is the (only) opinion ... and it's not

This post along with your other post gives me a great idea for a future post, thanks and stay tuned ...

I agree 100% that handing out a lot of business cards at a networking event is a waste. They come in handy doing local business from time to time, I am going to go read your original post.
