National Dog Day - August 26, 2015 - Our Little Duchess

She is lovely and we are delighted that you are so happy with here.  A couple of weeks ago, we are at a pet store that had the cutest pups...I found myself thinking of getting a dog, since Quincy cat loves the dog next door who is an English Cream lab.  They touch noses as he walks by her gate..  Good thing Ron pulled me out of there.  LOL A

She is so cute. I'm so glad your son cared enough to rescue her. It does sound like she's experienced abuse. I've rescued enough dogs in my life to know the signs.

That's how I got my dog Lucky back in February. He was running loose at night, and he's mainly black. I was afraid he would get hit by a car. I called him over to me and checked for a collar and tags. There were none. I got my hands in something gross while I was checking him. Remember it was night and I couldn't see anything. When I got him in my office, I could see he was bleeding. He ended up with stitches inside and outside of both ears. The vet believes his injuries were intentionally caused. Now he's part of my little family and he's very happy. 

My first little dog was also a rescue in which someone had found him along the side of the road.  He was well kept, trained and very smart.  He was   around 7 years old...and extremely crabby.  When my son stayed with us for a while he had a lab puppy  - and our old dog used to growl at the puppy a lot.  Then one day when the puppy was a little older, we were getting the dogs ready for a walk.  I had the leash on the old dog, the little puppy was very excited to go for a walk and decided to take matters in her own hands - mouth.   She picked up the leash in her mouth and pranced around the room pulling the growling old dog with her.   Funniest thing to see - we felt it was payback.

HI Robert, your Duchess is so adorable and she is lucky to have you and Yolanda. I meant to post something about the dogs, haven't had much time lately. But hope your Duchess had a great National Dog Day!

I'm so glad you decided to keep Duchess on a permanent basis.  She looks very happy about it too.  In the meantime my 2 felines are patiently waiting for National Cat Day on October 29th.

Hi Bob.  It sure sounds like Duchess is Yolanda's little girl, but is warming up to you as well.

I did not even know that there is a national dog day. She is a cutie indeed!

What a great story about Duchess on the National Dog day, we don't have any dogs ourselves but I am big dog lover, and love those pics of your duchess.

You KNOW how I feel about dogs! Big, small, overweight, overbite, I don't care! 

Look at this DARLING who happened to pull up in front of our office on Monday.

Forgot to add that dad got out of the car and within moments, popped back in holding a Chihuahua in his lap and the three of them drove off together--oh how I wanted to know the story of this 3-some! (hopefully spelled the "C-dog" right!)

Bob, Duchess is so fortunate to have Yolanda and you!!!  We gave our Maddie extra love this past week!!!

 I was trying to see what I missed when I was out sacrificing drinking Vino in California! Thanks for writing this about our girl!

Yolanda, we sometimes tag team it with travel between the two of us as Maddie does not adjust well to others caring for her at her age.  They are certainly worth it!
