Heart Screening for Junior and Senior High School Students
On Wednesday September 9, 2015 Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital is offering low cost heart screenings for Junior and Senior high school students. This series of screenings start at 1 PM and run until 5 PM. The cost of the screenings is $150 which equates to a significant saving of about $700. Insurance Will Not be Accepted. Payment may be made via cash, check or credit card. Physician referrals are not necessary. These tests were offered last year before school started but the were mainly directed towards athletes.
It is reported that over 8,000 children die each year from sudden cardiac arrest and many times when this occurs it is due to undetected heart condition which has flared up due to physical activity of some nature or sports of some kind.
The screening will include an electrocardiogram ( EKG) which tests heart electrical activity as well as a limited echocardiogram which is an ultrasound that illuminates heart structure and function. All students will receive a written assessment from a board certified cardiologist.
If you want more information or want to register call 713-222-2273.
I think all parents should seriously consider this opportunity and get these tests as school has already started along with physical activity. It might save your child's life!
