Orthopaedic Associates of West Florida in Safety Harbor Florida was our destination when it was time to get Ronnie's rotator cuff operated on. The surgeon who did the actual surgery was Dr. David Thompson. Dr. Thompson's resume includes some top rated universities and medical facilities, including the Mayo Clinic. In addition to that, Dr. Thompson is the head team physician for the Tampa Bay Storm.
One of the things that impressed me, in addition to his resume, was Dr. Thompson himself. Not only did he take time to explain the procedure that would be done, he also took time to chat. Getting to know your surgeon on a bit of a personal level eases some of the natural tension that precedes something as serious as surgery.
In addition to having a great office staff, the facility where the surgery took place was also top notch. The anesthesiologist on the team took her time, explaining what was going to transpire. Ron was nervous but both the anesthesiologist and Dr Thompson come in and discussed everything with us before Ron went into surgery. After surgery Dr. Thompson once again came out and went over the next steps with me. The follow up after the surgery took place in the same efficient way.
