Help Me Find the Plans for this Marvelous Cabin: Corte Madera

I have a listing on a really great cabin in the woods.

2885 E Black Lode Trail

This seldom-used cabin has two bedrooms and two full baths as well as a loft. One bedroom and full bath are on the main floor (live on one level) while the second bedroom, full bath and the loft are on the second floor. The great room boasts floor to ceiling windows which open to Aspen Trees as well as Ponderosa Pines and Spruce Trees. Four walls in this room are made of floor-to-ceiling windows. All the woodwork in this cabin is light oak. The cabin features spectacular beamed ceilings throughout. There is an enormous wrap-around deck giving an even closer views of the beautiful Aspen Trees. The community park for Potato Patch is a very short walk and can be seen from this cabin. The grassy park is set among Aspen Trees and has a Ramada and setup for picnics, horseshoes and volleyball.  Potato Patch has an Association and a private water company.

The stream that runs through Potato Patch is the head of the Hassayampa River which flows through the Prescott National Forest on its way down trough Wickenberg, Arizona. Potato Patch got it's name in the gold rush days around the time of the Civil War. It was rumored there were nuggets as big as potatoes there.

See the virtual tour for this cabin in Potato Patch south of Prescott, Arizona.

I propose to have this same plan built on another lot I have listed. It is Lot 17 in Shadow Rock Ranch. (See the tour for Lot 17 here.)

Lot 17 Shadow Rock Ranch

This setting is vastly different in that the building site is on a cliff that has phenomenal long-distance views. The fan-shaped deck would provide an un-matched observation point to all the enjoyment of the awesome views.

The design of the cabin will lend itself to building on top of the cliff as much of the cabin can be built on columns rather than requiring a stemwall.  The picture I have came from a plan book, vintage around 1978. The name of the design is Corte Madera. Here is the illustration from the plan book.

Looks like a beautiful piece of property and a glorious cabin - good luck with it.

Thanks for your comment and your encouragement, Lise Howe. I wanted to get more pictures of the cabin while the Aspen Trees were yellow but a storm stripped the leaves before I got my pictures.

What a beautiful home, and that's quite an interesting name for a community, "Potato Patch." Made me smile just reading it. Good luck with the sale.

Thanks for your comment, Rosemarie Heindel. There is a three-mile stretch of dirt road to get to the cabin. I could have had it sold quickly if it were closer to town and on a paved road.

Gosh, John, this just brings the outdoors right in! And I think the price is really reasonable! I enjoyed the website photos for it. Nicely done. I agree with Rosemarie Heindel the name of the community captures you.

Is it built on piers?  Is that common for your area?  It's a lovely cabin and I bet it would look great at my lake too.

Tammy Lankford -- There is a small stemwall on the high ground under the cabin but the rest is on piers. If the ground is not too steep, it would not look so "leggy" under the deck. Some places are quite mountainous here, so many homes have piers -- sometimes as high as 12 to 20 feet. The mountains are mostly granite, so digging a basement is often not a viable option.

Those are both beautiful-looking homes. I hope you find the plans to build a brand new one, but if not I am sure you will find someone who can copy it.

That is a real beauty and brings in the outdoors to the inside. On the right lot it will be heavenly.
