Some two thousand years ago, hope was born. Hope for all mankind in the form of a babe given birth by a virgin. For eons, man wandered in the darkness of superstition and ignorance. There was no master plan, death was finite and that his very existence was guided by the winds of chance and fate.
Most of the world cherishes the desire for peace, love and harmony. “Why can’t we all play well together in this sandbox we call Earth?” is our plea. Isn’t this what we really hope for? We can only trust that the Spirit of Hope who’s birth we celebrate on this special day will live on in our hearts and, hopefully, we can pass this Spirit on to the next generation.
My prayer for everyone, is that we can all open our hearts just a little wider, be more tolerant, and give the one gift that will not be found under any tree. It is the gift of ourselves and paying it forward with a gracious spirit with no expectations or desires for return. We do it because the right thing to do was written in indelible ink on our heats. Yes, easy to do for family and friends, hard to do for the stranger who cuts you short in traffic. The gift of hope, peace and love was the special gift that we were given and is the ultimate pay it forward. Yes, the gift of hope and a better future for mankind was born on this day.
Merry Christmas
