Show us your home for the holidays Season 2...December 2015.
Christmas trees with lots of lights are so sparkly and festive. That is what I love to see. Now of course I love to see all of those lights on a tall, chubby tree. That is the type we would always look for when we were children and went out with my dad to buy our tree. That was a ritual saved for early Christmas Eve when the trees would be the least expensive. It did not matter to us. The anticipation of waiting was exhilerating and the joy of finding the tree, bringing it home, decorating it and then enjoying it before going to bed to wait for Santa was worth everything.
Christmas, for us, lasted until after New Year's Day. We delighted that entire week plus because the tree was still very much a novelty. Our toys remained around the tree and that is where we spent much of our time. I loved curling up in a comfy chair to read the new books that were left under our tree year after year.
It has been interesting to see how our Christmases evolve as we change from being the youngsters so excited about Santa to being parents excited by our children's excitement to now my years as a grandparent sharing the excitement with my children and their children. Through all these changes the Christmas tree remains at the center of the festivities.
