One of my absolute favorite real estate friends passed away yesterday morning.
To put it mildly, Liz Carter was a force in our industry, and I was privileged to get to know her starting in 2007, when we became friends through our interactions right here on AR.
She attended my birthday party a few years back (see photo - that's me with Liz (red shirt) and Ricki Eichler McCallum, another AR friend).
She was always a ball of energy back then, and one of the most outgoing ladies I knew. She gave everyone at the party custom-made "Million Dollar Bills" that day. She was one of those people that everyone later describes as a "hoot". :)
Unfortunately, Liz had struggled with health issues for a while, including double lung and liver transplants in the fall of 2010.
Liz was a top-producing agent for many years in the Houston/Katy area. She was always happy to share her knowledge and to serve as a coach for others.
When my good friend David Wilder passed away in 2008, she helped with an impromptu auction/bake sale during a meetup to raise money for David's wife. I was touched to see the generosity shown by my friends that day, and it was a huge blessing for me and Jan both, frankly. One of my friends purchased a pecan pie for $100 or more, if memory serves.
It's hard to lose ANY friend, and I have certainly lost several close ones over the years, but it's especially hard to lose someone who only sees the best in you, all the time. Liz was like that for me. It was like having a proud surrogate mom. I felt like everything I did impressed her and made her happy. She was always optimistic and fun when I saw her, and I learned from her. For that, I am grateful and thankful.
Rest in peace, friend. I love you.
May God bless and carry your family through this time.
