Register-to-vote

If you live in Atlanta, the last day to register to vote for the March 1st Presidential Primary is February 1st. You must register or change your address at least 30 days before an election in Georgia. You can register to vote or update your address online now at sos.ga.gov/elections. You can also download the free app, GA VOTES, at your Apple or Android app store.

When you register to vote in Georgia, you are automatically registered to vote in city elections if you reside within the city limits; a second application is not required.

Make sure your voter registration is up to date so you can vote in the correct precinct. Visit www.mvp.sos.ga.gov or the GA VOTES app and enter your name, county and birth date. Your voter registration will be displayed along with other available voting information, such as your assigned polling place, advance voting information and sample ballots. You can even print a copy of your precinct card or have a copy sent to your email.

In Fulton County, residents can also register to vote at one of the following locations:

  1. at their city hall
  2. at a Georgia Department of Driver Services office
  3. at any Atlanta Fulton County Library Branch
    by mail

Residents can also obtain a voter registration form at one of three county offices:

1) Fulton County Government Center (130 Peachtree Street, SW, Suite 2186 Atlanta, GA 30303)

2) Fulton County North Service Center (7741 Roswell Road, Sandy Springs, GA 30350)

3) Fulton County South Service Center (5600 Stonewall Tell Road, College Park, GA 30349)

In Cobb County, you can also register to vote at :

Cobb Board of Elections Main Office
736 Whitlock Ave., Suite 400
Marietta GA 30064
Monday – Friday: 8:00am – 5:00pm

Or:

  1. Call them at (770) 528-2581 and they will mail you an application.
  2. Register to vote when you get your driver’s license.
  3. Register at any Cobb County Library when you apply for a library card; or any time you are at a library you may pick up a blank application and mail it in yourself.

Any mail-in applications must be postmarked by 30 days prior to that election.

In Gwinnett County, in addition to online voter registration as discussed above, if you are submitting a voter registration form by mail and are registering for the first time in Georgia, attach a copy of one of the following items with your application: a current and valid photo ID, utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document that shows your name and address.

If you do not have any of the identification documents listed here, you can obtain a free photo ID for voting purposes only from the Voter Registrations and Elections office. Please call 678.226.7210 for details. Those who are entitled to vote by absentee ballot under the Uniformed and Overseas Absentee Voting Act are exempt from the ID requirement.

For more information, contact the Cobb County Elections Office at 770-528-2581 or visit cobbelections.org.

Since the deadline is tomorrow, Monday, February 1, 2016 the simplest is to go online to sos.ga.gov/elections to register to vote or update your address.
