Some things are just impossible to script
Sandpoint Idaho is in the middle of its 'Winter Carnival' being held February 10 through February 21, 2016. Friday was the 'Parade of Lights', held on the downtown streets of Sandpoint, and followed by entertainment and bon fires on the closed streets.
With rain coming in I went to a local Pub, Eichardt's, to enjoy a draft and relax from a long day. They were busy but I was able to find a spot at the bar. It was like musical stools around me and finally two couples sat who were also going to enjoy dinner.
They started talking and while not ease dropping one can not help but hear conversation when trying to talk above the crowd. Turns out both couples had 2nd homes in Sandpoint, Idaho. For 15 or 20 minutes I listened to how fantastic the Sandpoint North Idaho area is. One couple had just finished a two mile snowshoe on USFS land just off the back of their property earlier that morning. Both were commenting on the wonderful restaurants in Sandpoint and Schweitzer Mountain Ski Village.
They continued with no idea who I was. They went to the fantastic fishing in Lake Pend Oreille, to all the bike paths. The friendliness of all the people. The fact that Sandpoint is still a hidden gem much like Lake Tahoe of maybe 50 years ago. One couple got stuck leaving town one year seeing the Sandpoint Arts and Crafts Fair and wanted to enjoy, so stayed the weekend. Next they were talking about the Schweitzer Fall Fest with local beers and live entertainment over the Labor Day Weekend.
If there was some way to tape this conversation of people simply discussing how special this area is I could double my business in one year. This was not scripted nor requested. People talking at a Pub as to how special the surroundings are, and how lucky they feel to be able to enjoy it.
I left shaking my head..Oh had there only been some way to tape/record this conversation...
