I just happened to accidently stumble on this cute post while trying to pull up Kathleen Luiten 's contact info and thought I'd share it. Love the Vibe vs Tribe prose. With 5 grown children who've blessed Janis and I with 15 Grandchildren I feel what she'd talking about. No doubt about it we all have our tribes.

Great post!!

I saw this image while searching for something the other day and it made me smile. YES, I definitely have a tribe... actual several of them.

My husband's family has welcomed me into their clan. The Luiten family numbers over a hundred now with some siblings and cousins becoming grandparents. Add my side of the family and my family tribe nearly doubles, spanning two continents with a small contingent Down Under too. The Family Vibe creates one of my tribes.

In social media it is easy for me to spot various tribes. Politicos or Cat-Lovers, Nerds or Shopaholics, it seems like there's a tribe for everyone on Facebook or Instagram or wherever they prefer to post.

My social media interests are eclectic so I show up - or not - in many different tribes there but never with great frequency.  My real tribes are the people in my life, also an eclectic group but after all That's My Vibe!

What's your vibe and who are your tribes?

Thanks for the reblog, John DL Arendsen! I just noticed you are in Leucadia. I lived near there in Cardiff while attending UCSD. Beautiful area of SoCal.

Ha! Funny you should say that. We visit Hawaii at least a couple of times a year. I'm an avid surfer and love the Islands. FYI, I wrote a post after my return to Maui a couple of years ago that may hit a nerve with you having spent time in Cardiff.

Here it is:http:

Living In Leucadia, California Is Like Living In Lahaina, Hawaii

Perhaps we could meet up on our next visit.

Hi John DL Arendsen  and Kathleen Luiten ,  I wish we had a larger tribe. I grew up in a small family, just my brother and I.  It was just my dad and his brother. My mother and her sister, who didn't have any children. I had two children and evelyn had one from a previous marriage, so our tribe is very small, with 2 children and 3 grandchildren total.

Larry Johnston A tribe is a tribe regardless of the size. We once walked past a bus stop across the street from Disneyland. It was raining. The bus stop was covered with a protective awning.

The folks under the awning all had shopping carts full of their worldly possessions as they were homeless. A large black lady in her 60's motioned us to come stand under the awning.

So Janis and I strutted over with a bunch of our grandkids. The lady said come join our tribe and get out of the rain until the light changes. She didn't beg for any handouts and seemed very proud to have the few things she owned neatly stacked in her shopping cart and happy to be a part of her tribe.

When we were getting ready to cross the street I reached into my pocket to grab a couple of bucks.  She said no need to do that. We all share our bread here and we're fine. She was very proud to have had the opportunity to help us.
