Good point. When we were there in 2011 it was rainy season, but as you say with intermitten sun. But 2013 was spectacular weather.

Indeed. There is sort of a mystery about them, yet they served such a useful purpose and as homes for some. I haven't been in more than a couple but always enjoy seeing them. Out here the one at Point Reyes was a spectacular setting! It was a clear dya and we could see the city, too. Such a feeling of remoteness

Ha ha. They had a big sign up that the park was closed. Seems to me this was the 2013 trip. Anyhow, I doubt they would have listened to me

Some of my favorite lighthouses are in ME and NH! Fond memories. My favorite islands are Kaua'i and Maui, but have heard very good things about the Big Island!
