The grass is growing, the trees are green, and allergies are horrible. Yep, Spring is in full swing! It's that time of year to think about doing something to your yard (besides cutting it!). If it's is missing that "pop", read this short post to discover a few simple, yet effective ideas you can implement in a single weekend.
Garden Planters
Let's start with your driveway. Yeah, yeah, I know it's not technically part of "the yard", but just work with me, okay? If your driveway is a bit ho hum and boring, garden planters can really dress it up. Every 8-10 feet, place a decorative garden planter on each side of the driveway, Not only will this add aesthetic appeal, it will serve as a guide for your drive.
Selection of garden planters have expanded over the years. There are now many varieties from which to choose. Check with your local home improvement center. Surely you'll find planters that suit your taste and budget.
Garden Finials
These are ornaments that add accents to beautify your yard. They come in a massive variety of styles and materials. How and where you choose to use them is totally up to you. Use your imagination! Some people place them in strategic places around the yard. I have also seen them in flower beds and gardens. Again, it's totally dependent on your taste.
I recommend searching online to see how other people are using them. You will also probably see styles you like. Next, walk around your yard and scope out the ideal location(s) to place them.
Koi Pond
You’ve probably seen those cute little Koi ponds, right? Although they look intimidating, a basic Koi pond isn’t as difficult to build as you might think. In fact, most retailers furnish kits that include practically everything you need to make this an easy Saturday afternoon DIY project.
To make your pond even more appealing, consider adding plant life - both submerged and floating. These plants will beautify your pond. You can also surround it with stone to make it really pop!
One thing you’ll need to check is the PH levels of the water source. It needs the proper levels to ensure your fish can actually live in it.
