No show, no doubt!
At 8 o'clock on Saturday night, I received a call from someone a state over, wanting to see a listing, saying the home would be for his mother and that she did not have buyer representation.
Before hanging up, he asked if the home was occupied.
He wanted a Sunday showing at noon. I set the appointment and showed up several minutes prior to 'show time' turning on lights and music, getting the home ready to view for the potential buyer.
- 12:00 comes and goes. Fifteen minutes later, still no one at the door. I phone, no answer. I leave a message.
- 12:30 and I text, asking if they still plan to show up. No return text nor voice message back.
- 12:45 I place another call just in case something happened to impede their progress to the home. No answer and no return call.
At 1 o'clock, I start wrapping things up, turning off the lights and told the owner it was a good dry run for when we have seriously interested buyers. May I add, that are considerate to the mix as well?
My inner instincts told me something was just not right about this situation. Prior to the showing, my husband drove me and parked in his truck down the street due to the uneasiness.
Just in case.
The question of asking if the home was occupied set off an alarm from the start. Also, why didn't the mother call and inquire about the showing since she would be potentially purchasing the home? Another red flag.
There are worse things that can happen other than being stood up. Glad for an uneventful day in this case. Be proactive with sketchy situations folks and Happy sales all!
p.s. The person still does not answer his phone or return the call...seems somewaht suspicious to me. You?
