Dare I go there? My answer would be no to that question. First of all, put yourself into the shoes of consumer. If you were looking for an agent and you happened to say find a listing that was posted and you dug a little deeper into that blog and found listing after listing after listing. You found a second agent and they had a listing posted, but the last ten blog posts they had written included
- A restaurant review
- An in depth look at a clause in a contract
- A post about an emergency vet visit in the middle of the night and their puppy getting saved
- A post about the first day of school and links to the school websites
- A post about a local author doing a book signing
- A listing post
- A post about ways a seller can best prepare their home for showings
- A post about the local farmers market and what the agent bought and grilled one night
- A post about a new business that just opened in the town
- A post about a local area to avoid during a few days of construction
So which agent would you want to hire?
As a seller you might think it doesn't really matter as long as your home is being marketed, but if you were a buyer wouldn't you want to hire an agent who is showing you they are involved in their community.
Every post you write doesn't have to bring business, but if you happen to be giving the person reading it something of value it could lead to business. So it's my opinion that being "just real estate" on your blog is not the way to go. I think you need to put your own personality and community out there and give value to anyone who might find a post.
