Schools Open Tuesday August 30th in Carlsbad CA

Tomorrow is the first day of school for Carlsbad Unified School District students and parents.

Parents and students are no doubt ready to go, but those without children need to pay attention since there will be different traffic patterns, school busses, children and parents walking to school, and crossing guards at numerous crosswalks.

If you are out on the road in the early morning afternoon you can likely expect more traffic, and delays can and should be anticipated until everyone settles into their academic year routine.

School started here on the 11th Jeff. The start of school demands sharper awareness and the ability to react quickly with more kids on the roads, sidewalks, especially in cross walks.

It's later than in many areas but I know some are still after Labor Day. I know what the traffic is normally like when school starts so I am prepared. It's always a nuisance by the schools.

Our schools are already up and running! I got held up by a couple of school buses today, but I don't mind. It means summer is almost over at last!

School started here August 25th, now the traffic is heavy and I add about another 5-10 minutes to my commute. It is the season, first college football game is Saturday

Jeff, lots of schools here started yesterday and I could see a difference in traffic. Hard to believe Summer is over. We will all have to be extra alert with the kids and extra drivers out and about.

Thanks Gabe Sanders - I imagine those without school-age kids are even thinking about this. I only do because we live close to an elementary school and the traffic can get pretty ugly if we don't time our travel time well.

Hi Grant Schneider - wow, after Labor Day! I don't think there are any schools out here that start after the holiday, although that was alwas the case when our kids were in school.

Amanda S. Davidson - today is our big days and I can here the difference over at the school and the road we can see from our house across the canyon!
