This is another Paris photo. It's a gargoyle condominium, also known as Notre Dame Cathedral.
These creatures spend their days in their units multitasking.
Their first job is to ward off evil spirits, a task at which they are very experienced.
Their second job is a little more practical. Gargoyles are an important part of the Cathedral's water management system, carrying rainwater away from the walls and into the building's gutters.
As a lot of you already know, I love Paris and head over every chance I get. And on each trip, I pick up at least one tidbit about one of the iconic buildings or monuments that I think of as old friends.
