Don't Be a Ghost Member!

So, what exactly is a Ghost Member? It used to be a new member, who got zero comments on their posts, or members who were not engaging other AR members, but lately, I have noticed that many new members haven’t taken the time to upload a photo of themselves or write a short summary of the services that they offer and provide to their consumers. Why would you ever want to be a “Ghost Member”?
I remember the first time I signed up and logged into Active Rain. I was amazed at the number of points that I was getting just for logging in and adding my photo. Then, I decided to write that first post the same night, and I came back a wrote a brief summary of who I was, and the services that I offered. I noticed that I had earned an astonishing 2000 points in just two hours of work. Like others in the Rain, I was fascinated by all the points that you earn from all the things you did, like logging in, responding to comments, and writing posts frequently, participating in contests, and now the Q & A section even gives you more points.
The first place that many of the seasoned members are going to look when you start leaving comments on their blogs is your Active Rain Profile. Also, that may be the next place all consumers from the general public will look once they find your blog. I would highly recommend and suggest to all new members to take the time and effort to leave a brief summary about yourself, your services, and your interests in your Profile Page. Leaving a current photo or image of yourself is also highly recommended.
One of the main reasons for joining Active Rain is to grow your business, and to improve your online presence. It would be very beneficial for all new members to take the time to upload a photo and a brief summary about who you are, and the services you are offering. I can’t tell you how many times that I have gone back to review and to update my Active Rain Profile page. This profile page has come a long way with vast improvements since I first joined, and I know others who were pioneers at the very start can testify the same.
I can almost guarantee if you took one or two hours daily, reading posts and leaving comments on many of the Active Bloggers in our community, that many of them will look you up, and stop by your Profile page to read your summary and brief description of your area of expertise and the services your provide. The more you begin to engage others the more they’ll begin to recognize you. BTW, that’s a tip to get more comments on your posts too. So, don’t be a “Ghost Member”. Take that first step and make 2017 count for something!
