It's All About the Presentation...Or is It?

Much like our 'jobs' in real estate, a chef's job is not only to prepare an exquisite dish but, to present a masterful delight -  presentation is key also!

 Lobster Bisque & Customer Service

This Lobster Bisque was not only delightful but, beautifully presented (much more beautiful than my low-light shot!).  The chef delivered it to the table and put the finishing touches on the dish, right in front of us!  He spent just the right amount of time chatting with us, before leaving us to enjoy the bisque while it was the perfect temperature.

Not only did he satisfy our appetites and appeal to our 'artsy' fascination with the presentation but, he scored big on customer service as well.  Most chefs leave the final touches to the wait staff but, this one made a powerful statement to us - he cares about his clientele.  It was a 3-minute break from his kitchen duties, that made a world of difference to his clientele!

Do you go that extra mile in your business?  Do you market like there's no tomorrow while simultaneously making your clients feel that they are your only clients?  It truly is a very easy thing to do - it's about mastering your presentation, knowing your market and providing superior customer service. Putting all of these facets of your business together for your clients makes for a memorable experience - one worthy of future referrals.

Hi Debe, what a great story.  Wow, I can smell the bisque right now.  That is also a special treat to have a skilled and courteous chef come to present this to you.  In my traveling days I've been to many fine restaurants but I don't ever recall seeing the chef anywhere near our table (not counting the Benihana chefs and the Sushi chefs).

You made this whole post very "delectable" in every way, Debe! I would hope that at some point you could tell him what a mark he made on you, so much so that it prompted an entire marketing blogpost! Here's to exemplary service--not enough of it in the world!

The chef, and thus the restaurant, certainly earned bonus points in the "customer care" category.

A wonderful presentation is certainly important, and then needs to be followed with quality, whether it's food, wine, or a real estate transaction.

Debe I so agree - going the extra mile makes a HUGE difference with clients and it's why they keep coming back year after year as well as send us referrals. Making them feel as if they're our only client becomes easier over time.  I learned (from my Mom actually) to  focus 100% on who's in front of me - and on their needs and wants. It's all about them.

And yum - that lobster bisque looks wonderful!

Going the extra mile sets agents apart (in my opinion) and applies to other industries as well. As a society, fewer and fewer people go that extra mile these days. Doing so is rare and goes a long way.

IN REAL ESTATE, REPRESENTATION IS EVERYTHING

Debe, your article is so important for folks getting ready to sell to read and understand that any real estate agent can input a listing on the internet. It takes so much more than that to set their home apart from the competition. Sellers in your market would do well to list with you!

Debe Maxwell , Thanks for the informative post and comments.  I am just about to get my license so I've never had a listing.  What type of "thick brochures" do you leave? Are they specifically about that house, or do they include local info, too?  It sounds like a great idea.
