Thanks to Lynn Friedman's Jumpstart Challenge, I've discovered the Community Guidelines! I've often heard of them but have never read them before. After finding them on ActiveRain, I can see that the Guidelines are about transparency in real estate, ethics, fair housing, plagarism, fair dealings in real estate and a host of other items that most real estate agents should already know.
None of this is rocket science, but it IS (to me) about the Golden Rule and about the rules in ActiveRain. Every organization has rules and it's only fair that ActiveRain would have rules as well. Protecting the integrity of this community is key and the only way to do that is to follow the rules. Hmmm, sounds a lot like just plain being a good agent if you ask me.
If you receive a referral from someone, be honest and fair. After all, there are rules for each state, each MLS, and each association that we all have to follow. Being dishonest will come back to bite you in the behind! That's just plain bad business.
Comment on others' blogs and be genuine, not critical. Provide one comment per blog and don't be a points monger. Using others' posts as a way of gaining more points will be seen as a selfish move to gain ranks in your city, state. Don't steal some else's content or redirect a post to your webpage. Again, not rocket science just being a good agent and a good person.
It's a waste of time and energy to devote bad tactics in ActiveRain.
This is a great reminder to start the year out right and be aware of how you are transacting your business. You may not think someone is watching, but in almost any case, someone is watching and any misdeed will surely receive a reprimand, etc.
Here's to a great start to a great 2017!
