Hey, Buyers don't want free money!
Lately, I have been working with a loan officer that has been having some great luck with buyer down payment assistance money. He is offering a few programs that others are not & that kind of money just doesn't come around all that often.
So .... don't you think that buyers WANT this info? I'm saying, they're saying 'MEH'. Let's throw in some shoulder shrugs to boot here.
So at open houses when I suggest they take 3 sheets stating the program benefits & the criteria (yes, the fine print so to speak) no wants to even TOUCH the papers!
Remember the old 'cooties' .... that's what it reminds me of. Boys don't want to touch girl's stuff & vice versa as it's got the 'cooties'.
BUT WAIT .....
There's more!
When I ask them if they wouldn't like some down payment help the buyers are looking at me like I've got 3 wonderfully mascaraed eyes. So I'm offering help, you have to qualify & you don't even want to see if you can?
Some of these programs offer a certain percentage like you put down 1% and the lender gives you 2%. Is that not found money? Isn't that what the public wants is some help?
I guess not .... I bat my eyelashes in disbelief.
