Pewaukee is one of the suburbs in Waukesha county....for those not "Badger state familiar"...Waukesha county is the first county west of Milwaukee county...Milwaukee is perched on the shores of Lake Michigan. People sometimes use the expression here "It's cooler near the Lake" ! They aren't kidding...going 10 or fewer miles west of Lake Michigan can mean an elevation of 10 to 30 degrees ! Waukesha county is where we have called home since we designed and built our exposed ranch a couple decades ago (Stay tuned more renovations to come !) We love calling the Badger State home for lots of reasons.....and enjoy being the ambassadors for people choosing to relocate here for our large employers from the Vrooom Vroom of Harley Davidson, to the tapping of computer keyboards at Northwestern Mutual, the ringing of registers at Kohl's Department Stores, pounding of printing presses QuadGraphics, technological turns at GE Medical, the aroma wafting of hops wafting over the valley of Miller Beer.... and Milwaukee Electric Tool to name a new complimented by printers, local wineries, lots of wonderful ethnic and gourmet restaurants....and a very reasonable cost of living. For Sports Fans....The Milwaukee Bucks, The Milwaukee Brewers, The Milwaukee Admirals Hockey Team...The Marquette Warriors....and the list continues.
I digress...and it's easy when you "Love where you Live"...Pewaukee like many places in Wisconsin is an Indian name...from the Potawatomi Tribe it means "lake of shells." The Best 2016 estimates of population put this city and Village at just over 14, 300 people in just a squidge (highly technical real estate term) over 21 square miles...with another squidge over 1.6 miles being water.
Local people will often think of Pewaukee Lake when that this little place comes to mind. That is because it is the largest lake in Waukesha county's "Lake Country approximately five miles long and a mile wide with depths sloping from 15' to 45'. You can find saling races of national import hosted by the Pewaukee Yacht Club found on the southern shore.
Appropriately, Pewaukee is home to the world headquarters of Harken, a manufacturer of sailboat and yacht gear sold internationally most especially for racing.
If you would rather fish than sail...expect to find large and small mouth bass, muskies, pike, bluegills. walleye and yellow carp.
If you are not a "lake living" kind of person but enjoy a smaller town atmosphere close to the conveniences, culture, sights and sounds of a larger city, you may choose to call Pewaukee, home.
If you long for world class shopping...that is easily found just six miles away in Brookfield with every expanding retail opportunities with The Corners of Brookfield brand new mall, Brookfield Square and other strip malls offering a variety of specialty shops.
Lots of families are attracted to the School system proudly offered by Pewaukee. It is award winning and serves as a model for other schools across the country....the motto..."Opening the door to each child's future" does not disappoint.
Location, convenience, recreation, excellent schools....do you need any MORE reasons to consider Pewaukee as your next place to call Home ? Just call the Hansons, Broker Associates with Keller Williams Realty...providing the real estate services you deserve for the house you will enjoy calling home.
