Something Learned from ActiveRain

Earth, Water, Sky

Something I learned from Bob Stewart at one of his visits to the Marriott for a presentation of ActiveRain in Plano, TX several years ago, is that using photographs in a blog post is an effective way to get noticed with SEO. From that day on, I didn't just take photographs, I practiced as if I was preparing for the State Bar exam! Try, try, try, as I did, I felt that on ActiveRain there was always somebody better than me. To be clear, that was not Bob's intent to convey that message - it was MY interpretation. Bob Stewart always wants Agents and people in the Real Estate industry to do well for themselves and others.

REFLECTION

In recent weeks, I attended a work-shop with Chris Jackson, Photographer at the Dallas Arboretum and most recently a meet-up at a local park. Taking photos with a group of photographers and people interested in learning has been very enlightening. Being part of a group, whether it is membership in ActiveRain or a local organization is fun, educational, and inspiring. I now understand what Bob was saying - I just took it to a different level. But I don't think, I'm alone. We are all students on life's beautiful planet earth, big blue sky, and water.

Having active membership with ActiveRain invites you to partake in the adventures of Real Estate, storytelling, photography, technical skills, marketing, advertising, call to actions, and friendship. The premise of one of my most recent photographs,  shared here today is the subject to encourage you to rediscover who you are, and share the best of what you have to give back to others to inspire and educate.

To derive the most out of your AR experience share your passion. Be yourself. Pay close attention to how you conduct business and the feedback you receive, know that not everyone has your best interest at heart, but that is a very small minority. The majority of members are a priceless reminder that people were created to help one another. Something as simple as earth, water, sky, and the people and animals on this planet yields many visual rewards. Never underestimate the power of what a good photograph and story can do for you and others too.

Patricia Feager - we learn something every day here at ActiveRain for sure. My posts are also with pictures. (And some of the re-blogs, I added appropriate pictures, too!)

Nice picture, by the way, a reflection of the clouds and sky on Earth in Water.

Patricia Feager what a well stated post.

I like your statement: The majority of members are a priceless reminder that people were created to help one another.

Your photos are a reflection of how you see things, and they are super. You share so well and you inspire.

Thanks

Gary Woltal - People do tend to gravitate to something they like and it's not the same old, same old thing. If the picture grabs their attention they will typically read to know more. A good photo holds a lot of power.

Have a nice day.

Roy Kelley - The reader will be engaged if there is something inside that photo and the words that follow that resonates within. We should consider the front page of anything we do as First Impression.

Praful Thakkar - From the moment I came upon this setting on the lake it spoke to me. I could have stayed for hours because it was so beautiful to me.

There are many times we read beautiful blog posts and the idea of re-blogging is good but if we re-blog, we can always send a greater message with an intro to the other author's work and using our own photograph and set-up of words to reinforce the message. You do that so well!

Good for you for going the extra mile. Photographs are the first impression of a blog just as a front door and curb appeal are for a house!  Being a student keeps things fresh and being fresh is good for business!

Dear Patricia,

Good point. If it works for listings, it should work for blogs.

Jan Green - Those are all good points! A first impression is also a very powerful form of non-verbal communication. It's what distinguishes one person from another. Clones or sloppy first impressions send unconscious messages that are loud and clear to the receiver.

Have a superb day, Jan!

I liked your idea of taking a photography class. Maybe in the off season, that would be a good skill brush up. And fun too.

I think I take pretty good pictures. But a photography class is a good idea and would probably be fun too. Thanks for the idea!

Hello Patricia and I totally agree ... Be Yourself ;o)

Love your photo and it's funny because your photo almost looks like it may have been captured from Tuner Lake in Alaska.

I know it wasn't but check our the green algae in the lake.
