An Aloha State of Mind
I spied this sign at Hanalei Bay on Kaua'i when visiting and thought it really spoke to me.
This is the sort of state of mind I would always like to have, if not in person at least in spirit. What do you think? Does it work for you?

I lived in Hawaii for three years and - believe it or not - it wears on you. I think it's much better as a vacation spot.

I'm too much of a big city girl and like to move, move, move. So this doesn't speak all that much to me. I get bored with that state of mind in about 5 days. As Nathan Gesner the idea can wear on you. I know this first hand, as three of our grandchildren were born in Hawaii and one of my best friends who grew up there and retired there lasted in her retirement for only about two years before the state of mind wore her down.

It is a state of mind and speaks to me in that way. I have 52 weeks of vacation time spent throughout the years and understand exactly what you are getting to. I have found that Tahitians have this same spirit. Wonderful post! But it can wear on you. My husband insisted we retire there but I knew I could not live there full time. We found our perfect balance in Sedona and both of us agree...this is our aloha spirit.
It is all about balance.

Good morning, Jeff --- a state of mind that can happen in any location with the right attitude. I imagine it might be able to "happen" a lot easier in Kaua'i than in some other places.
That works for me too! I certainly would like to have an aloha state of mind day in and day out.
I like the Costa Rican statement of Pura Vida, the pure like or the simple life but this will do nicely.
One of these days I'm going to have to make it to the islands. My mom tells me we stopped there on the way to Okinawa, but I was less than 2 at the time so my memory is a bit fuzzy :) bill

Oh how I would love to go back for a visit. Hubby not interested though so may have to find another way to get there. It was so relaxed there.
