Living in a state like California, it comes with a lot of perks... lots of diversity, great weather, near many wonderful beaches, being close to the ground with new technology, local farming is available, and it's the epicenter for many unique events. However, lately the Golden State has been suffering from wildfires breaking out in both the Southern and Northern parts. Ever since last week, there have been 191,000 acres burned... to put it in perspective, that's over 13 Manhattans being burned down. Many cities are being affected by this, causing schools to shut down and businesses to stop simply because the air quality has suffered from all the smoke. Even living just over 80 miles away from the fires, the air down here is thick and smokey due to the winds carrying it over.
It is due to the size of these wildfires that Northern California firefighters are asking for people from all along the coast for help. People from all over are coming to aid, hailing from South California, Washington, Oregon, and Arizona to name some. They aren't only needing people to fight these flames either. City workers from 
neighboring towns are being asked to come aid in rescue, shelter, and evaculation efforts as well.
I mention these fires and their magnitude because it is important to really understand how much risk the people in Northern California are putting forth in order to stop further damage from happening. Some of these people putting on work clothes or volunteer badges are people who do not have to be there helping, but are anyway. And even those whose jobs it is to help are showing extraordinary strength and bravery in the face of this immense danger. To me, in these people offering services in such a scary and overwhelming time, are showing Love. It is love in its truest and purest form, as these are all individuals coming together to save others. I give my thanks to every single one of these Loving people, and am praying for all the Californians struggling to survive.
