Not So Speechless Sunday: Mexican Sunflowers!

These beautiful flowers pictured above also known as Mexican sunflowers are known as the nectar flower favorite of Monarch butterflies.  They are an annual plant for most of the US, and a perennial in USDA zones 10-11.

They are native to Mexico and Central America, and have a long growing season.  They need full sun to part shade, and grow tall 4 to 6 feet.  You can find the seeds on Amazon.

Happy Sunday!

I haven't seen that color before but would love it if we could grow them in Oklahoma City.

Joe Pryor according to what I have read, it will grow in your area.  It is a hardy plant.  I don't know your USDA zone, but you can look it up.  I am told it is easy to grow.  A

Hi Ron & Alexandra - Those look really cool and would be a great change from the standard ones. And we just happen to need a bunch of stuff for our spring planting in our new gardens. Thanks!

I thought those are a type of daisy. I don't know if we have them here and how well they would do in our climate.
