Thankfulness (DAY 3) - Being Married to My Best Friend
I've always heard that happiness is being married to your best friend. I never really understood the deeper meaning of that until a few years after being married to mine. Yes, I was so very appreciative for the first few years of marriage but, I woke up one day, realizing that my life was synonymous with that old sentiment!
Ray passed the first test - being an amazing father to our boys. Anyone who is married with children understands exactly what I mean. Passing the father test is a HUGE step towards melting your heart! ;-)
No matter what I did - cooking, gardening, nursing, anything - he was my biggest cheerleader. What I ever did to deserve such love and support, I could not, for the life of me, figure it out! But, every day, I woke up counting my blessings until I realized that this had gone on for a long time. It occurred to me that I no longer had to awaken and pinch myself - I could relax and savor the most amazing relationship I could ever have dreamed of!
We are passionate about the same things, from our love of animals to seniors, sports to volunteering; we both love travel, music and laughter...lots of laughter! We are also both avid readers and will find something hilarious to read aloud to one another (if we can understand what the other one is reading)! Soon both of our jaws ache and we have tears streaming down our faces from laughing so hard!
There is SO much more to our story - one day, perhaps I'll write a book! For now, I am ever-so thankful to be married to my best friend.
Thank you again, Debbie Reynolds, for your Thanksgiving challenge!
