Don't Ignore Holiday Curb Appeal If You're Selling Your Home! {Infographic}

By

If you're selling your home during the holiday season, don't ignore your home's curb appeal. Curb appeal is one of the biggest factors in selling your home quickly and for top dollar. It's as important during the holiday season as at any other time of year.

A home's curb appeal is the very first thing buyers notice when they drive up to a home and buyers form an immediate first impression as they drive up. This first impression is very powerful, as it instantly sets the tone of the home tour and will affect how buyers perceive the rest of the property. If a buyer's first impression is a negative one, they will look for reasons to dislike the interior of your home. If their first impression is a positive one, once inside your home they look for reasons to like your home. As is often said, "you don't get a second chance to make a good first impression."

When you're selling your home during the holiday season, it's perfectly fine to decorate your home's exterior for the season... it's more a question of what you do. The infographic below provides excellent tips on how to maximize your home's curb appeal if you're selling your home during the holidays.

Hello Nina Hollander,  Nina, I have my herd of deer out front most years but with no snow, it just did not seem right to put them out yet.

I better not sell my home at the holidays since I take a Bah Hunbug approach to Christmas curb appeal. Good ideas though.

Nina, so many put out the blow up Santas, and the next morning, they are flat to the ground.  Saw one the other day in front of a listing.   Bad curb appeal!

Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®,CRS, ~ good morning, Paul... I've been driving by so many homes that have gone so over the top with their decorations that I thought a little reminder was in order for those selling their homes.

Beth Atalay ~ hi Beth... fortunately, most of the homes I've shown during this holiday season have been tasteful in their decorations, but every so often you come into one where it looks like Christmas "threw up" all over the place.
