The Predicted Snowfall Came in Short

Well the forecast for snow came and went in Denver.  We have had an unseasonably warm winter thus far, with no actual recorded snowfall in November.  This was the first time in many years that something like that occurred.  There is no way to attribute it to any one cause, and it’s statically small in the grand scheme of annual weather patterns.  Working in Denver property management we have had previous winters that have eroded our ability to do good consistent business at this time of year.  The rental market already has a seasonal downtrend, with inventory ever increasing.  So, it is more difficult to rent a property at this time of the year.  When the snow adds to that equation it can be problematic.  This extends all the way from snowfall causing traffic to be horrendous, which can lead to missing appointments.  The snowfall if it is enough can cause showings to be rescheduled and trying to find the time to reschedule is like waiting for the sun and moon to align.  We have been fortunate to have the sunny days and the lack of snowfall.  The ground is barely dusted from this past forecast and in the shade, remains the only sign that snow even came through the area.  The highways are always the worst when the snow fall comes in too heavy.  Although it is nice to have a city-wide snow day, having sun and mild temperatures makes it able to go outside and still enjoy a summer-is weather in the middle of winter.  We know that people in California are used to summer year-round, and they have experiencing this year after year.  Looking back on blog pasts in the last few years we have reported on the snow often.  Reading some of the decryptions is interesting, as we had roads where lines were covered, 4WD cars being necessary to traverse the roads and side roads and standstill traffic with people careening into barriers and abandoning their cars for broke.  What am I trying to say is that I will take this type of weather at this time of the year anytime.  Hopefully we won’t have a harsh correction of the weather in January and February.
