Stocks Still Riding Upward Trend

Stocks began the year still riding the upward trend that investors enjoyed throughout 2017.  In fact both the NASDAQ and the S&P 500 set new record highs today with the NASDAQ closing above 7,000 for the first time.  All that euphoria was at the expense of bonds as they traded predictably lower.  Today was the first business day after recreational pot became legal in California and pot stocks soared from opening to closing bell.  The Dow gained 104 points on the day.
