"Pineapple Express is a non-technical term for a meteorological phenomenon characterized by a strong and persistent flow of warm atmospheric moisture and associated with heavy precipitation from the waters adjacent to the Hawaiian Islands and extending to any location along the Pacific coast of North America." We went out to replenish our food supplies in Santa Barbara. The Montecito Von's and other businesses in the vicinity including Starbucks and banks are closed because of the potential threat of mud slides and debris. These are the areas that were most affected in the January 10th slide.
Happy to report that the mud dredging of the creeks and waterways after the big mudslide has been handling this third rainfall and storm beautifully. The creek that runs near our home looks normal and is carrying the water to the ocean as it was intended to do, and has for the several years we have lived here.
The storm is supposed to slow down this evening, and resume Thursday morning and continue into the evening. After that, sunshine is on the horizon for the next week. Our reservoirs are benefiting from these rainfalls and the residue from the fires and the mud dust are being washed away.
Have a great evening!
