Chained to Your Desk 8 Hours a Day? Consider Micro Breaks

Everyone should be breaking up their daily work day.  Whether it’s getting up and taking a quick 2-minute walk around the building, simple stretches at your desk or a 15-minute micro break to recharge, these small breaks can improve your mood and work output.  In Highlands Ranch property managementthere may be long stretches of putting out fires that require you chained to your desk.  It is always good to allow for this mini 15 minute breaks whenever you can fit them.

Never underestimate a quick walk around your building.  With the weather getting increasingly warm it is getting easier to do.  Some buildings may have the AC on too low, so getting outside and feeling the sun can be a much needed activity.

Sometimes your workstation can start to become cluttered and unruly.  Taking a 15-minute break to organize your desk, file some papers you have been meaning to file, or generally tidy up your work space can help you focus.  The day should not always be about a break that involves exercise.  The combination of the two will help with productivity.

Making sure you are taking regular breaks in the workday helps to mitigate stress levels.  Sometimes it can be rare to have 15 minutes to not focus on a current task, but filling that space with any mind or body helping activity will do wonders for the busy season and the rest of the year to come.

Kevin, you are so right. In fact, I was taking a break and ending here on AR--but still on the computer. Time to go for a walk here in Carmel-by-the-Sea, pick up a healthy lunch somewhere, then come back here for another few hours on the computer. PS. I did already go to the athletic club for a swim this morning, that always starts my day right.

My FitBit reminds me if I've taken less than 250 steps each hour. It's a great reminder to get up and move around!
