Maryland and Virginia Real Estate, Web Sites - Have Relevant Meta Tags

By
Real Estate Agent with Lenn Harley, Homefinders.com, MD & VA Homes and Real Estate 303829;0225082372

Maryland and Virginia home buyers will find the web site http://www.homefinders.com through the meta tags in the source code of their web sites.  One thing that was clear, Google is not looking favorably on web sites that have duplicate meta tags on all pages of a web site.

For folks who do their own web site optomization, take a look at your title tags.  I just returned from a very enlightening SEO symposium.  The first thing I did the next day, all day, was adjust the title tags on my web pages.  Get rid of any repitition or redundancy.

good advice Lenn.  I thought meta tags were no longer important, so mine are all the same.

I don't get SEO. So thanks for passing along the tip.

There are many categories of meta tags.  When we speak of meta tags, I generally mean the meta titie tag, the meta description tag and the meta keywords tag.

Google uses the meta title tag for ranking, the meta description tag for display on SERP and doesn't use the meta keyword tag so that one is only important for small less important search engines.  But, for me, all search engines are important.  You never know where a buyer is going to be searching or where Google may run across a list.

My post referred to the meta title tag and meta description tag. Repetition can be viewed as spam and a poor description tag is what will show on SERP.  No meta description tag sends Google to your web site to pick up the first 200 or so characters for your description.  It may not be what would best describe your web site or your services.

Thanks Lenn as always when Lenn says anything about SEO, SERP, meta, Google, key words... I listen.  After reading her short blog entry on Meta Tags last night, I spent some time playing with a bunch of different SE guru sites that have been mentioned on RT and EPT, looking at meta tags, keywords, viewing source code on my site and others...

Lenn's later comment clears up some of the questions that my playing brought up. I was just too shy to ask questions last night, thank goodness for Maureen F. ; -)

Lenn, whose symposium did you attend? What level is it taught on? Do they have classes for beginners?  Would lots of it go way over most of our heads?

Hi Lenn,

When Lenn speaks, we all listen.

Don't always understand.

But we listen.

:)
