California Capital Airshow 2018

This morning while swimming laps, I found it pretty amazing to do more time doing backstroke, while watching the world famous USAF Thunderbirds working their magic in the blue skies above. For those interested in aviation marvels, today kicks off the California Capital Air at nearby Mather Air Field.

The California Capital Airshow runs Friday, September 21st, Saturday September 22nd and Sunday September 23rd.

For those in the Greater Sacramento Region, this evening’s performance will celebrate 100 years of Mather Airport, with the “Airshow After Dark” performance!

Gates will open this evening (Friday, September 21st) at 5:00 pm, with flying performances beginning at 6:30 pm.

I saw a video somewhere of the planes flying within inches of each other and barely wavering. I cannot believe my own eyes, Myrl, but I know it is real. Can I see the airshow from standing in my back yard in Land Park?

Land Park would be too far away to view the airshow, Elizabeth!  One of the best places is along Old Placerville Road, in Rancho Cordova.  It's close to the Winery where you, Kathy and I had lunch a couple years ago.

Although my son is U.S. Navy Retired, I haven't seen the Blue Angels perform.  I can imagine they are pretty awesome!

We just had a great air show here Myrl Jeffcoat at the Minot Air Force Base but there was no place I know of to watch it while doing the backstroke.

My health club (California Family Fitness) has two pools at highway 50 and Sunrise.  While it isn't as up close and personal as we often get to the air show, it was still enough to get a glimpse into their skill.  Really awesome!

Myrl, what a way to watch The Thunderbirds while backstroking!!!!  Hope you get out there and get some pics for us!  Those airshow planes are a real marvel and the pilots who fly them are incredible!!!

Hi Myrl Jeffcoat - This should be some show at Mather Airport.  Anytime you can get the chance to see the Thunderbirds perform - you should take that opportunity.
