A beautiful home is a great thing. It’ll feel cozy and welcoming to you and your guests, and it’ll also be awesome for taking pictures for the ‘gram or if you decide to sell the house at any point in time. Regardless of your motives for wanting to decorate your home and make it look better, money is an important factor.

Many options are too expensive to be worth it so which ones strike the right balance of many spent and impact on your home’s aesthetics? Here are a few tips that’ll help you decide and get a beautiful home on the cheap:

1. Painting

The painting of your home is the fundamental of its aesthetics. If you have the right paint color or pattern, it can bring life to a room all on its own and help to highlight the beauty of any other fittings or furniture you put in the room. The good thing is even if you don’t have enough funds for an entire repainting of your home, getting just two or three cans and painting an accent wall can do wonders for space.

2. Declutter

Sometimes the solution to making your home more attractive may not be adding anything to it but rather removing unnecessary things. Items that are dated, worn or damaged should be the first ones you remove. You might not want to remove some things for sentimental reasons but remember that the goal is to have your home looking beautiful, not like a museum.

  1. Wall Art

While you’re removing some things, you can add some art to the walls to give some character to your rooms. You take a great couple picture to use for a photo wallet and also frame and hang it to showcase your romantic side. If you can get some affordable paintings of printed art too, they could spice up your home. You must be careful with wall art though – too much and you’ll be crowding the space. That would defeat the purpose and make for unsightly walls.

4. Use Color

While you paint; remove and add furniture; hang up wall art and do other things to beautify your home, it always helps to have a color scheme in mind. Do some research on the internet and check for inspiration on social media so you can choose the perfect color palette to create a spectacular effect. Generally, you should stick with the 60-30-10 rule where 60% of the space is taken by a dominant, neutral color, 30% by a secondary color and 10% by a bolder, attention-grabbing color.

5. Try Minimalism

Minimalism is perfect for reducing your décor costs because…well, it’s minimal. You’ll have to buy less furniture, fittings and other elements, and even your painting will cost less since it’ll be less complicated. Plus, it’s in vogue now so you’ll actually be joining a popular trend. The key is to use one or two big-sized statement pieces as opposed to a variety of smaller accessories.
