Meat, Chicken and Fish….(I'm sorry I offended you)

Recently we have had a lot of talk about offending others in the rain and I do my best to not offend others. I don't get in to political or religious debates, but time to time, I do get stuck in the middle of a debate about a real estate issue and sometimes that is unavoidable.

But, this time my offending blog wasn't about real estate, politics or religion. It was about happy cows. Now personally, I thought this blog was funny and so did others that featured it within their groups. It was a joke but, apparently, it has offended a born again vegetarian.

Here is a copy of the e-mail from the person minus their name to protect them.

Now, I feel a lot of the problem with America these days is that people feel their opinion is the only one. You see everyone has an opinion and a way of life and I don't think you should try to push your way of life on others. If it bothers you, look the other way and just go about your day. I have some great friends here in the rain and I do know one of them is a vegetarian and I would never try to force her to eat meat. But I'm hoping she would never try to force me to become a vegetarian either. You see it is just a different lifestyle, but I don't think any less of her for it.

You see, I eat meat and always will and I made a joke about a cow. It was funny, in my opinion, and if I offended someone because I eat meat and made a joke about a cow, then I'm sorry. But, that is my way of life and I plan to continue to live my life that way. I promise not to be offended by the way you live your life and your opinion, so please try not to be offended by mine. Relax. Life is too short to be offended by every little thing. If something bothers you, look the other way.

Amen.... Too many people feel entitled to their opinion and that their opinion needs to be heard. Bull crap. What is best for the greater good is what this country is built on. I hate the fact that we cant say our pledge of alligence it has nothing to do with religion and everything to pride in our country, I hate the fact that we are now forced to have everything in spanish because those choose not to learn our language and force their language and cultures on us. America is a melting pot and their is nothing wrong with having culture and different religions but our basis of what we were formed on should not be changed. We should not bow down to every little demand by every group of people who feel offended. Get over it, that is life! Again it's ok to have your opinion discuss why you think someone elses is flawed but dont put the person down for their thoughts. Which is what the person above was doing. I am so tired of people now a days. Everyone is a winner, everyone should be able to have a turn at things. What happened to working hard, earning things, learning that you arent always the best and that's ok.  Ok that was one big gumbled up rant but I think you get my point.  I dont think people should always just look the otherway, but learn tolerance and acceptance that is the root of the our problems.

Todd, the lesson that we have learned is that just about anything can be offensive to someone. Then again isn't this why we all choose to live in America so that we can all have a voice and and an opinion. If something bothers us we just stop reading about it and do not comment.

Todd, this writer to you needs to get a life. Maybe watch talking heads or something as an alternative on TV and not taking time responding to your opinion on a joke about a cow. Methinks some people have wayyyy to much time on their hands.

If it aint sheep farmers it's chicken rustlers making the news.

Now we have a few butterfly farmers that I have very hard feelings for, but I am willing to live and let live. Exect for cows.

I happen to work for a developer with several ranches...We raise a lot of cows here, well taken care of until the last minute...and then its time For New York Strip, T Bones, and some really good hamburger.

I remember when I was 17 and working on a shrimp boat..trust me, that experience can last for years, but I never felt sorry for the shrimp...Its a funny thing what some people consider off limits..here its cats and dogs, horses and hamsters...and gold fish..In other countries, all these creatures are considered fair game for dinner

As far as offending people, maybe he should be writing McDonalds, Wendys, and Outback...They certainly are not worried about offending a few foul freinds

Todd, I'm constantly amazed at how humor impaired a lot of people are who are totally zealous about whatever!

Hey sweetie,... I AM that your vegetarian friend and I think your heckler is nuts!!! This isn't about animals at all... it's about having a sense of humor. None of us, when we think about it, wish any harm to animals. Humor, as a rule, typically encompasses topics we feel uncomfortable addressing. So what the heck!

We need to go out for lunch soon. You can dine on that huge bloody burger and I'll have the icky seaweed and WE will laugh our asses off at those who take themselves way too seriously. That person is clearly not getting enough Kool-Aid chemicals in their diet :)

MWA!

The graphic is *goatnut*!!! LMAO :-)

You've got to be kidding?  I think some folks have their drawers wound a speck too tight.  Get a life is right.  Goodness.

I missed the Happy Cows post the first time around, but good gravy is that funny.  People need to lighten up.  That's funny stuff.

Todd,  Sad to say but a whole lot of people have lost their sense of humor in this country. Just by smiling in public we are bound to offend someone!!!  And so it goes....

Oh if only the world were devoid of humor so we all could fully enjoy our days of lamenting the world's suffering without reprieve.  The annoying buoyancy of a light hearted moment completely sabotages the hard earned angst that I cobble together over sixteen shots of espresso while ostentatiously thumbing my dog eared copy of The Communist Manifesto for any passerby to (hopefully) notice.  You may have minor things like family on your mind, but to blatantly forget the plight of the cow in your rush to bring levity to an often cruel world is udderly inexcusable.

Now Bryant, I am very offended that you just maligned McDonalds.  I give my children that for lunch once a week and they consider it a treat!  Don't call social services.... please!  Todd, ditto to all the comments.  Come on already!  People are so sensitive.  I am hearing impaired and I get hearing impaired jokes all the time.  I laugh.  What am I gonna do?  Cry? Just don't offend me by telling any jokes about cows that can't hear!  Lol!

Heather - I think this world is just too uptight and really needs to learn how to take a joke. If I say something bad about someone else, I am a bad person, but if they say something bad about me it is freedom of speech. (What the heck)

Jason - Doesn't surprise me that we agree on this one! It is getting to be a crazy world!

Patty or Scott - OH, That is right...I guess some people have forgotten that and maybe they should move if they don't like the way we do things.

Gary - I just don't get people who preach like this, I'm guessing they feel guilt for something themselves and would rather make others feel bad so they don't have to feel so bad about their own actions.

Mike - I don't dare tell this person I've eaten dog and how they prep that!

Bo - The funny part is after I got this e-mail I went out and had a Chicken / Bacon Burger and darn it was good!
