Snakes in the Office

By

"If you see a snake, just kill it.  Don't appoint a committee on snakes."
- H. Ross Perot

When running the broker side of the desk, you are sometimes called on to make difficult decisions.  As a broker/manager/owner you are responsible for office culture, casting vision and most importantly, profitability.  Most leaders who have come through the ranks tend to be quick to hire and slow to fire.  Problems tend to drag themselves out.  Take a ruthless policy on snakes (whether they be people or problems) they don't get better and they only hurt you in the long run.

Carpe diem,

Chris

He he he.  Actually, not funny but oh-so-true.  While the connotation of the word, "snakes," is pretty bad, the animal "snake" does do a lot of good, what with killing vermin and stuff.  I wonder what would be the human equivalent of a rodent?!  :)

Chris,

A bit harsh...yet I agree a true scenario......you can only carry nice people so far.....if they can not help themselves then they will never help you.

Speaking from past human resources and management experience - in a sue-happy culture, it can be very, very hard to get rid of the snakes!

How true Chris! I enjoyed your insight. I have been lucky in my selection of offices in my 10 years. I have heard stories of snakes in local offices and count on my broker to do pest control in our office...

Regards

Paul Henderson
