When I joined Active Rain a few months back I had no experience with blogging at all. I was not sure if I really wanted to get into this at the time. I was quite busy with business, family and community. I didn't have any idea how you get started blogging.
I registered with Active Rain and set up my profile. That was easy enough. Not what?
I began to get flashbacks from when I bought my first personal computer in the early 80s. I remember the big day well. I opened the boxes, carefully followed the instructions and connected everything carefully. It said plug it in and turn on the computer. A big smile of accomplishment came across my face as the computer made a beeping sound. Soon a little dash appeared on the screen. We sat and watched for about 15 minutes until we realized that it wasn't going to do anything else. The smile left our faces and we looked at each other with the "what now?" look. For those too young to remember the original PCs and clones, they had two floppy drives and no hard drive. After reading for several hours I learned to load DOS and the rest is history.
That is how I felt when I started here. I turned on the computer joined Active Rain and then said what now? Well the difference this time was instead of a three big thick binders of documentation I had the members. They were so friendly and helpful. I was not made to feel inferior when I asked dumb questions. I was welcomed with open arms.
I want to say a special MAHALO! (Thank you in Hawaiian) to the Active Rain members who helped me get up and running; some directly and many more because of their informative posts that guided me along the path.
I was going to list names, but decided that may not be a good idea for two reasons:
- The list would be excessively long.
- I may miss someone important.
Since joining Active Rain, I have learned more than I ever would have imagined. I have made many new friends who I have been able to exchange the knowledge needed to grow my business and to become more of a professional.
100,000 Active Rain points is more blog posts, more responses and more pictures, than I ever thought possible. Especially when you consider I am a two finger typist.
I would like to express a big welcome to the new members of this wonderful forum. To those who have been around a little longer, A BIG MAHALO for making this a great place to exchange knowledge and meet great folks with common goals.
