Make sure your emergency kit is stocked with the items on the checklist below. Most of the items are inexpensive and easy to find, and any one of them could save your life. Print this list or download it here directly from FEMA and head to the store. Once you take a look at the basic items, consider what unique needs your family might have, such as supplies for pets or seniors.

After an emergency, you may need to survive on your own for several days. Being prepared means having your own food, water and other supplies to last for at least 72 hours. A disaster supplies kit is a collection of basic items your household may need in the event of an emergency.

It is beyond .our comprehension how one could prepare mentally for the possible devastation this can cause homeowners.

Excellent selection for a reblog, Roy. The current uncertainty of how and when Dorian will hit is probably the scariest thing. But everytime Florida is threatened it reminds me all over again why I refused to ever live in Florida (or any coastline area subject to hurricanes).

Hello Roy,, Great reblog from Abby Stiller  I do not know if you can ever be ready.  My Sister is in St. Agustine and I can never get her to leave.

Hi Roy,

Always a good idea to double and triple-check emergency items. Over the years, my safety net has been a propane fed gas generator with an electric starter. (Just checked it) It runs my refrigerators, microwave oven, lights, and fans. Give me a cold beer and I'm set for the duration!

Roy, that hurricane looked to be heading directly to Florida, but now hear it may not be that bad now.  Sure hope not!

Roy Kelley, important reblog.   Abby Stiller has a very thorough list in preparation of Hurricane Dorian.  The whistle on the list reminded me of the movie The Titanic. That whistle was very important.
