Strange!! Camel cigarettes? Lighter? Coffee cup with pretty lady?

Camel cigarettes ad smoking lighter girl in cupSo what does this mean?

I found this picture at an estate sale.  There were other pictures of the same lady with normal snapshots taken outside the house.  So you could see that a picture had been cropped so that it was placed in this coffee cup.  But WHY was she in the coffee cup.  Was Camel Cigarettes paying her to advertise?  There appears to be a man's hand holding the cigarette (actually smoking it because you can see smoke) and the cigarette lighter is on the table.  Perhaps it was a romantic thing with his saying that she was all he could see no matter what he was doing?

Have you ever seen a picture like this??

I'm thinking it was a photography trick. The picture really isn't in the bottom

of the cup, it was superimposed on the cup picture. Most likely for advertising purposes.

Anyway, it's quite romantic!

I think it's a romantic gesture that he can't start his day without a cigarette, a cup of coffee and her. Kinda sweet.

Morning Barbara.

No ma'am not back in those days. I can see why it was used for an advertisement.

Teresa, your response is definitely romantic!

Don, no doubt it was a photography trick but the reason for doing it is the mystery.

James, you think Camel paid her?   And perhaps lots of others?

To me, it's a glimpse of what pleases the guy most.  A cigarette, a good cup of coffee, and thoughts of his favorite person.

Myrl, I think you are right.  But note what you placed first......a cigarette!
